Karma Kids: Yoga for children

Today’s children experience stress at an ever younger age, from peers, school, activities and home life.

Yoga is not age-dependent and in our modern society it can be an extremely useful tool for children to learn to express and release emotions that could otherwise have become stagnant.

Moving and stretching

Children enjoy moving and stretching their bodies and are naturally inclined to movement for relaxation. Balancing postures in Yoga help calm and prepare minds and bodies for end of session meditations. The grounding effects of conscious breathing can be of great benefit to today’s often stressed out children.

  • Enhance academic performance
  • Increase coordination and balance
  • Develop better social awareness and cooperation
  • Enhance focus and concentration
  • Improve self-esteem
  • Foster self-acceptance
  • Improve posture, strength and flexibility
  • Overcome obesity
  • Improve emotional stability
  • Reduce fears, aggression and helplessness
  • Decrease anxiety
  • Improve conditions for ADHD sufferers

As children move through the variety of yoga postures the relationship between their mind and body evolves, enhancing their ability to trust their own instincts.
